Account Deletion
Last updated: November 3, 2025
This page explains how to delete your Toiletly account and what happens to your data when you do. We are committed to transparency and giving you full control over your personal information.
How to Delete Your Account
You can delete your Toiletly account at any time through the following methods:
Method 1: Web Dashboard (Recommended)
- Log in to your account at toiletly.app
 - Go to Settings → Profile
 - Scroll to the bottom and click Delete Account
 - Confirm your decision by checking the confirmation box and typing "DELETE"
 - Your account will be permanently deleted

Note: Account deletion is currently only available through the web dashboard, not in the Android or iOS apps.
Method 2: Contact Us
If you cannot access your account or prefer assistance, you can request deletion by contacting us:
We will process your request within 30 days as required by data protection regulations.
What Happens to Your Data
When you delete your account, the following occurs:
Immediately Deleted
The following data is permanently removed from our systems:
- Personal Information: Your name, email address, and password are permanently removed
 - Profile Data: Your display name, bio, and any profile photo are deleted
 - Authentication Tokens: All login sessions are terminated
 - Location History: Any stored location preferences are removed
 - Gamification Data: Your XP points, levels, badges, and all achievement records are permanently deleted
 - Private Preferences: All app settings and preferences are cleared
 - Toilet Ratings: All star ratings you submitted for toilets are permanently removed
 - Referral Data: Your referral code and associated referral statistics are deleted

Anonymised Data (Retained but Disconnected)
Some community contributions remain on the platform but are disconnected from your identity. Your user ID is permanently removed from these records, making them fully anonymous:
- Toilet Submissions: Any toilets you added to the map remain available to the community but with no record of who submitted them
 - Toilet Edits: Updates you made to existing toilets (location corrections, accessibility info, opening hours, etc.) remain but are anonymised
 - Moderation Reviews: If you were a moderator, your review decisions remain but without attribution to you
 - Analytics: Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics may be retained for service improvement

This approach ensures valuable community-contributed data remains available for users while completely protecting your privacy.
Retained for Legal Compliance
In some cases, we may be required to retain certain data for legal or regulatory purposes:
- Audit Logs: For up to 12 months for security and compliance
 - Financial Records: If applicable, retained as required by UK law
 - Legal Disputes: Data may be retained if there is an ongoing legal matter
